Predictive Modeling Cooking Show
The “Predictive Modeling Cooking Show” is a window into the kitchen of master chefs as they work, except the chefs are whipping up something different: a predictive model. Join real modelers as they showcase their data engineering and modeling skills, live and on stage. The two teams will go head to head on a classic real-world prediction problem. This is a great chance to gain a better appreciation of modeling concepts in a new and different way.

Using Graphs to Leverage the Natural Connectedness of Data in the World We Live In
Recommendation engines, fraud and spam detection, knowledge graphs, bill of materials optimization, network and IT management, master data management, almost any data application area you can think of rely on understanding the connections between data points.  Graph databases are uniquely designed to value analyze data points as a community and network of connections.

This presentation will start by introducing graph database concepts and where they apply compared to traditional RDBMS’s and the core technology differences between them.  Next, we’ll outline some graph database applications with some retail marketing usage examples, such as a “ask the next best question” shopbot. The talk will finish with a quick introduction to graph algorithms for feature engineering, influence identification and scoring, data centrality and community detection, path finding, and deep learning.
